FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

(Cluck-Approved & Human-Friendly)

Do you really make all your soaps by hand?
We sure do! Every bar is handmade in small batches on our little homestead, right alongside our flock of nosy hens. No giant machines, no shortcuts—just good old-fashioned elbow grease and a bit of farmyard magic.

Are your soaps natural?
Our standard formula features simple, skin-loving ingredients like lard, goat milk, and colloidal oats. Some bars include palm oil or synthetic fragrance for a particular scent or texture, and we always list those clearly. Our goal is to offer a balance of rustic charm and real-world usability.

Do your soaps contain honey?
Nope—our Oatmeal, Milk & Honey bar is a fibber in name only. It’s sweet and creamy thanks to goat milk and oats, but not a drop of honey. We just couldn’t resist the classic name.

Can I use your soap on sensitive skin?
Many of our bars are formulated with sensitive skin in mind, especially our unscented and oatmeal-based varieties. But everyone’s skin is a little different (like chickens—no two feathers alike), so we always recommend a patch test first if you’re unsure.

What’s the deal with the chickens?
They’re part of the family, unpaid interns, and occasional soap critics. They don’t actually help make the soap (no thumbs), but they do keep us company and cluck their approval.

How long will a bar last?
Our bars are long-lasting when kept dry between uses—no soggy soap dishes, please! A well-loved bar will usually give you several weeks of daily use.

Do you ship?
Yes! We pack each order with care (and probably a stray feather or two, if we’re honest). We currently ship within the U.S. via our website: featherandtallow.com.

Do you take custom orders or wholesale?
We’re happy to chat about special requests, wedding favors, or stocking your shop with our bars! Reach out to us through the contact page and we’ll see what we can hatch together.
